Autumn MESTECH Bulletin is launched

In the time since the last bulletin we have seen some researchers move on and many new people arrive to either take up roles or start new projects.  The Beaufort Marine Research Award in Sensing and Communications is in its last year and is currently seeing increased engagement with sensor and coatings companies, deployments of technologies in the marine and freshwater environments, and discussions with agencies around decision support.  The FP 7 projects in sensor development under the “Oceans of Tomorrow” are well underway.  The focus on taking technologies from the lab to the field is a major objective with plans to grow science & engineering skills to enable the development of robust technologies fit for purpose.  A focus on the establishment of a transatlantic ocean observing capability is underway between SmartBay Newfoundland and SmartBay Ireland and part of this programme involves industry academic collaborative projects. See more inside….. Autumn MESTECH Bulletin
