Following the immense success of the previous ICoNet conferences, we are very pleased to announce that the 3rd Irish Coastal Network Conference will take place on November 25th in the National Maritime College of Ireland, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork.

Entitled “Governance Delivering Growth: Effective Management of Ireland’s Coastal and Marine Resources” – this free one day conference will feature speakers from European Commission’s DG Mare, as well as from the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government, Marine Institute and representatives from Ireland’s coastal and marine community.

Regulatory and governance structures currently in place, as well as those anticipated in response to EU policy, have a significant bearing on the use of coastal and marine resources. In light of the increasing recognition of the potential of Ireland’s maritime sector, it is an appropriate time for Ireland’s coastal and marine community to debate what is needed to ensure Ireland makes best use of its coastal and marine resources.

This year’s conference will review both the limitations and potential offered by current arrangements to enable a new era of sustainable maritime development for Ireland.

The conference agenda will be available in the coming weeks and while there is no charge there are limitations on space, and for that reason registration will be accepted on a first come-first served basis.
